György Hölvényi is a Member of the European Parliament, Standing Rapporteur for Education in the European Parliament and Spokesperson for the EPP Group in the Committee on Development. Mr Hölvényi is Co‐Chair of the Working Group for Interreligious Dialogue of the European People’s Party Group. Since 2014, he has been serving as Member of the Committees on Development and as Member of the Subcommittee on Human Rights, among others. Since 2019, Mr Hölvényi has been Goodwill Ambassador of the Hungary Helps Programme. Between 2012 and 2014, Mr Hölvényi has been active as the Secretary of State for the Relations with Churches, Civil Society and National Minorities of the Ministry of Human Capacities of Hungary. From the late 1990s, Mr. Hölvényi acted as deputy state secretary at the Hungarian Ministry for Youth and Sports. Currently, he also serves as Vice‐President for International Affairs of the Christian Democrat People’s Party of Hungary.

Karin Hulshof assumed the position of UNICEF Deputy Executive Director for Partnerships, ad interim, on 10 December 2021. Ms. Hulshof has worked for UNICEF for more than 30 years. Prior to her current role, Ms. Hulshof served as UNICEF Regional Director for East Asia and the Pacific since June 2016 and was based in Bangkok, Thailand, where she was responsible for regional oversight and ensuring overall policy and programme coherence and advocacy for UNICEF. Between 2012 and 2016, Ms. Hulshof was UNICEF Regional Director for South Asia. Prior to that, she served as UNICEF Representative to India; Director of UNICEF’s Public-sector Alliances and Resource Mobilization Office at UNICEF Headquarters in New York; and Chief of Staff to the Executive Director in New York. Ms. Hulshof also held field positions in Romania, Moldova, Belgium, Brazil, Guatemala and Costa Rica. Before joining UNICEF, Ms. Hulshof worked at the Council of Youth Affairs and Institute of Criminology in the Netherlands. Ms. Hulshof graduated from the University of Groningen in the Netherlands with a Master of Arts in Social Science and specializations in Economics, Spanish, Cultural Anthropology and Education. She is an Honorary Fellow of the Senate of the University of Bucharest, Romania.

Afshan Khan is the UNICEF Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia, and the Special Coordinator for the Refuge and Migrant Response in Europe. She is based in Geneva. Ms. Khan has been an international public servant for over 30 years. Previously she was the Director of Emergency Programmes for UNICEF, and she has also held other senior positions including Director of Public-Sector Alliances and Resource Mobilization; Associate Regional Director for Eastern and Southern Africa; and the UNICEF Representative in Jamaica. Ms. Khan has extensive field experience including assignments in Kenya; Mozambique; Democratic Republic of Congo; and Colombia. She also has broad United Nations-wide expertise stemming from assignments with the Inter-Agency Standing Committee for Humanitarian Affairs (IASC) in Geneva; the Executive Office of the Secretary- General; and the United Nations Development Group. From 2012 to 2014 Ms. Khan took leave from the United Nations to become the CEO of Women for Women International. In that role, she was responsible for setting the strategic vision and mobilizing the necessary resources for women rebuilding their lives after war. Ms. Khan was born in Hyderabad, India, and grew up in Montreal, Canada. She has a Master’s degree in Public Policy from the Johns Hopkins School for Advanced International Studies, and a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from McGill University.
